Upcoming book with Maria Blondeel
The artist’s publication ‘95G_DOKA’, to be published by Posture Editions in the autumn of 2026, features a series of photograms by Maria Blondeel.
The 72 photograms were created by placing objects on light-sensitive diazo paper and exposing them to daylight in Maria’s studio. Where the objects shield the paper from sunlight, the characteristic purple-blue colour emerges.
The objects that Maria places in the space and on the paper are not coincidentally photographic props. Darkroom equipment such as developing tanks, tongs, clamps, negative sheets and glass plates, as well as electrical cables and chains, film loaders, spotlights, boxes, tubes and storage systems, are deployed 72 times as extras in a ballet on paper. The book aims to document Maria’s artistic processes and to explore the broader conceptual framework within which the work is situated.
With a text by Ronald Van de Sompel and an introduction by Frank Maes.
The book will be launched on Sunday 13 December at 3 pm at Convent, Space for Contemporary Art, Ghent during Maria’s solo exhibition, which runs from 14 November to 21 December 2026.
