On Saturday 09.11.19, there was a talk between the artist Renée Lorie, Posture Editions and Netwerk Aalst on the occasion of the book launch and the exhibition ‘Noctuary’.
Both the book and the exhibition are a reflection on the idea of the impossibility to capture life in photography. According to Roland Barthes, taking a photograph doesn’t involve recording a moment in time (i.e. preserving this moment for eternity, as numerous publicity slogans promise us), but precisely bidding farewell.
